Paralympians Wow Rock Cats Crowd

The ball players weren't the only athletes taking the field at Tuesday's Rock Cats double header against the Trenton Thunder.

Athletes from the U.S. Paralympics Team showed off their skills between the two baseball games. Many of the athletes have been competing for years in events like wheelchair racing, cycling and archery.

They were proud to show the fans what they can do. They also wanted to raise awareness about competing with physical disabilities.

"Knowing that the opportunities are out there are at least half the battle of doing what I do," Paralympic athlete Paul Nitz of Bloomfield said. "If I didn't know the Paralympics were there, I would have never known to try."

The U.S. Paralympics and the athletes are sponsored by The Hartford.
