More Heat Expected Today, Possible Thunderstorms

The humidity was high on Sunday and will drop slightly today, but it will be another hot day.

On Sunday, temperatures reached the 90s in some parts of the state, dipped as the sun went down, but are expected to rise again today as a land breeze is expected to kick in, boosting temperatures along the shoreline to 90 degrees.

Temperatures will be very warm with highs about 92 inland and 88 at the beaches. The humidity will make it feel like temperatures are between 91 and 96 degrees.

A few scattered thunderstorms are possible today and very late tomorrow. A cold front approaching will likely bring in a more moderate air mass in terms of temperature.

Several cities and towns have opened cooling centers, including in Hartford plans to open cooling centers at the following locations in the event of a heat advisory:

  • North End Senior Center, 80 Coventry Street
  • South End Wellness Center, 830 Maple Avenue
  • Parkville Senior Center, 11 New Park Avenue
  • Hispanic Health Council, 175 Main Street

Much drier air will arrive on Wednesday.

The rest of the week should be dry and sunny with comfortable humidity.
