Pedestrian Killed in Waterbury

A man was struck by a vehicle.

A 31-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on Meriden Road in Waterbury, police said.

Waterbury police said Bobby Jordan stumbled out of the woods on the west side of roadway around 2 a.m. and walked directly into the path of the 1999 Geo/Chevy Prizm Philip Buonocore, 63, of Wolcott, was driving. Police believe Jordan was walking from his Meriden Road home to a nearby store.

Jordan was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, where he was pronounced dead. 

Police said there is no indication that Buonocore was speeding or under the influence.

No charges have been filed. Police are investigating, an autopsy will be performed and police said they are investigating whether Jordan was intoxicated.
