Deputies Pursue Pickup, Stolen Trailer From San Bernardino to Pasadena

The driver was on freeways in San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties before exiting onto streets in the Baldwin Park area

Authorities pursued the driver of a pickup towing a trailer on freeways in two Southern California counties and narrow streets in downtown Los Angeles Monday afternoon. The cross-county chase ended on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena, bringing traffic to a halt.

The small cargo trailer was stolen in the Pico Rivera area, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The pursuit was on the eastbound 210 Freeway near the 15 Freeway in the San Bernardino area before the driver headed west on the 10 Freeway back toward the Ontario area. At least three law enforcement sport utility vehicles were following the black pickup with a shell covering its bed as it entered Los Angeles County.

The driver exited onto streets in the Baldwin Park area east of Los Angeles and went through several stop signs before returning to the freeway and heading west into downtown LA. The driver squeezed between other vehicles on narrow streets near Staples Center.

The driver made his way to the Pasadena area, running red lights in the heart of the city.

He and his passenger were both taken into custody after pulling over on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Details about the trailer theft and its contents were not immediately available.
