Police arrested 22-year-old Isaiah Nemecek on burglary charges Thursday.
Investigators said video surveillance shows a person in a mask, later identified as Nemecek, using an ax to get into the building.
Officials from the museum said the suspect in took a .45 caliber automatic pistol replica from a Vietnam War display and did not get anything of value. There was significant damage to the building’s back door.
Police said an item from the museum burglary was recovered.
Nemecek was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny. He is also a suspect in a residential burglary in the same neighborhood as the museum, according to police. That case remains under investigation.
