A man was critically injured in a shooting in New Haven Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to Division Street near Sheffield Avenue in the Newhallville neighborhood after 911 calls reporting gunfire, a car crash and a shooting victim. When they arrived they found the victim, identified as a 32-year-old New Haven man, outside a home. Investigators believe he was driving the crashed vehicle.
The victim was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
