Serial Bank Robber Caught

A suspected serial bank robber is now in custody in Springfield, Mass., South Windsor police said on Friday.

Vincent Jones, 40, of Stamford is accused of robbing the Bank of America branch at 1033 John Fitch Blvd. in South Windsor on Nov. 4. During the robbery, he demanded money from the teller, police said. No weapon was shown or implied. Jones be extradited back to Connecticut. 

He is also a suspect in two bank robberies in Hartford. 

Police said Jones entered the Peoples Bank at 755 Main St., Hartford on Oct. 17 and handed the teller a note demanding money.  He fled with approximately $4,500 in cash, according to Hartford police. 

On Oct. 25, Jones entered the Citizens Bank at 190 Trumbull St. and demanded money from the teller, Hartford police said.

Jones escaped from custody of the State of Connecticut Department of Correction last month, state police said. He was living at a half way house.
