Stolen Van From Woman With Wheelchair Found

The search is over for a special needs van stolen Tuesday night in New Haven.  The abandoned van was located in Hartford on Wednesday afternoon.

A car thief had stolen the van designed specifically for someone in a wheelchair almost 24 hours before from a parking lot at the Graduate Club on Elm St. in New Haven, police said.

A black 2006 Toyota Scion with a special emblem on the side that reads "BRAUN RAMPVAN" was designed not only to accommodate a wheelchair but also the owner's “short stature,” police said.

New Haven Police had the van towed back to New Haven where it will be dusted for fingerprints.
