Two Men Facing Gun Charges After Shots Fired in Norwalk: Police

Two men have been arrested on weapons charges after an investigation into shots being fired in Norwalk on Sunday night.

Police arrested Derik Mccoy, 26, of Norwalk, and Jermaine Smalls, 26, of Bridgeport, on multiple gun charges.

Norwalk police responded to the 30 block of Lexington Avenue at about 5:22 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of shots fired in the area and didn't find any victims, but obtained a description of a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident, as well as the license plate number.

After notifying area departments to look out for the car, Westport police stopped a car matching the description on the eastbound side of Interstate 95 near exit 19 and took two people in the vehicle into custody.

Police seized a pistol while they were searching the car and charged Mccoy and Smalls with criminal possession of a firearm, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit and conspiracy.

They were both held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
