NC Shark Attack “Like a Scene Out of ‘Jaws'”: Witness

A shark attack that cost a 12-year-old girl her arm at a North Carolina beach Sunday was "like a scene out of 'Jaws,'" one man who witnessed the attack told NBC News. One person carried the girl from the ocean, while a crowd rushed to help and a woman called for bystanders to fashion a tourniquet, Steve Bouser said. "Everybody was screaming 'Get out of the water!'" he added. The girl's left arm was amputated below the elbow, and her lower left leg had tissue damage in the attack at Oak Island, hospital officials said. Barely an hour later, a 16-year-old boy was attacked just 2 miles away, in an attack that required his left arm to be amputated below the shoulder, too. It's still not clear if the same shark attacked both.
