Act II: Playhouse on Park Opens at Park Road Playhouse

Let the shows begin! The former Park Road Playhouse will open its doors once again, under a new name, thanks to a trio of new owners. The community theatre closed last month after a nearly nine-year run.

Darlene Zoller, of Vernon; Sean Harris, of West Hartford; and Tracy Flater, of Simsbury, are the proud new owners, according to The Hartford Courant. They signed a release last week. Zoller founded stop/time dance theater in 2004.

The theater will get a new name, Playhouse on Park, and open to the public with "My Show, A Choreographer's Story," by Zoller and her stop/time dance theater. It will be perfomed June 25 to 28.

The Park Road Playhouse closed May 24 after staging its 50th play. Howie Hirsh, who founded it in 2001 with his wife, Linda, said their theater was a victim of the recession and rising costs.
