Andy Griffith Stars as Casanova Grandpa in New Film

Slowhand Cinema Releasing

That's quite the grin on Andy Griffith's face.

For fans patiently waiting decades for a sex scene with Andy Griffith, the wait is over.

The 83-year-old acting legend is starring in a new comedy from Marc Fienberg called "Play the Game." Griffith stars as a widowed grandfather who with the help of his grandson and some Viagra, turns into a Don Juan on the prowl.

Fienberg -- a first-time writer, director, and producer -- told the Raleigh Telegram that he spent 12 years trying to get the movie made. Fienburg added that working with someone of Griffith's caliber was "amazingly scary."

And for the lovers of all things postmodern, the cast lends itself to a creepy fictional crossover. In the film, Griffith's character puts the moves on not one, but two famous TV moms: Doris Roberts of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and Liz Sheridan of "Seinfeld" fame. And yes, we feel dirty just thinking about the possibility of Matlock sexing the fictional mothers of Ray Romano and Jerry Seinfeld.

Now, we haven't seen the film, but with a PG-13 rating, the steamy scenes can't be too steamy -- which is a good thing. When it comes to Griffth, we prefer "tastefully done" over "hot and heavy." No offense, Andy.

We're still applauding Griffith's recent work in "Waitress," so the Aug. 28 release date can't come soon enough.
