“The Voice” Recap: Candlelit Newtown Tribute and Final Performances

"The Voice's" final live performances opened with a somber tribute to those who passed during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

On a candlelit stage, all of this season's contestants returned and joined Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera in holding name cards of those who were killed, along with their ages, while singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

Once their beautiful rendition of the classic hit was over, it was back to the competition to see who will be crowned the winner tomorrow night.

First up for the finals was Team Cee Lo's Nicholas David with a fiery (literally) medley of Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire" and Jimi Hendrix's "Fire."

David brought soul, rock, high kicks and sweat to the stage while playing on a flame-burning piano. But that wasn't all. There was a fire in the back of the stage and random balls of fire (how appropriate) that would shoot up from the sides. Safe to say that David's performance was hot.

"Your fire tonight burned this house down," his coach said, adding to the other judges' praise for having fun with his final performance.

Classic rock singer Terry McDermott was next, performing his son's favorite song, "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister.

His voice and light-saber of a microphone stand lit up the stage, but Levine noticed a shakiness in the beginning. No worries, though, Terry recovered well, and that was also noted.

"Every time you get on stage, something epic happens," Shelton told McDermott. "The people in the room know it, the people at home know it and you make these classic rock songs sound new again. And nobody can do that, nobody's been able to do that, except for you, Terry."

Closing out the night was pop rocker Cassadee Pope, who sang "Cry" by Faith Hill. Dressed in a gown with the most epic train of all time, Pope belted the country star's hit. "For every great moment you've had on this show--and you've had a lot of them--I've never heard you sing as great as you did tonight," Shelton said.

Obviously, it didn't take two hours to have these three perform their final song before tomorrow's elimination, so the show had plenty of filler. Each singer sang their greatest cover from the season once again, took on a duet and we got to witness each contestant spending time at their coach's home with their family. But something we didn't expect was Levine's surprise performance.

No, Adam didn't sing. Instead, he rocked out on the guitar during Shelton and McDermott's duet to "Dude Looks Like a Lady." Did we mention Adam was shirtless and wearing a long wig? Yeah, priceless.
