Employee Injured in Restaurant Fire

An employee at a Middletown restaurant was injured in an early morning fire Sunday.

The fire began in the kitchen area at Enzo's Restaurant at 200 Main Street.

Firefighters were notified when the smoke triggered the restaurant's fire alarm system just before 1 a.m., said fire officials.

An employee of the restaurant was injured in the fire. He was transported to Middlesex Hospital and treated for smoke inhalation, said fire officials.

That employee was not in the kitchen area at the time of the fire, officials said.

The kitchen did sustain significant damage from the fire and the restaurant may be closed for several weeks as repairs are made, said fire officials.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
