Bicyclist Killed by Drunken Driver: Cops

An East Hartford man has died after he was struck by a drunken driver while riding his bicycle on Sunday night in East Windsor, according to police.

Jay Gilbert, 52, was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he died.

Police say that Gilbert was riding his bicycle near 265 Main St. in the Warehouse Point section of town when a 2007 Dodge Charger struck him around 11:18 p.m.

Tara Sylvester, 22, was operating the Charger, police said.

Sylvester, of 22 Impala Drive, Enfield, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence.

East Windsor Police are still investigating the collision and additional charges could be filed.
