A person walking on the bach spotted the body of a woman in the Niantic River around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, according to state police.
Police said the body was loocated near Route 156 in Niantic, where it crosses over the river.
A State Police Major Crimes unit responded to the scene and said it appears the person's injuries may have been self-inflicted. The woman's identity has not been released to the public.
