Man Killed in I-84E Crash in Willington

A vehicle involved in a fatal crash on I-84 in Willington is placed on a tow truck on Saturday night.

A 47-year-old Massachusetts man was killed in a three-vehicle crash involving a passenger bus on  Interstate 84 East in Willington on Saturday night.

Authorities said a bus carrying 52 passengers from New York to Boston and a truck towing a trailer were involved in the crash between exits 70 and 71 around 8:30 p.m.

The operator of the truck, llidio Decastro, 47, of Marlborough, Massachusetts, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said Decastro was not wearing a seat belt.

The people on the bus were not injured.

The collision is still under investigation and any witnesses are asked to call Trooper Sackett of Connecticut State Police Troop C at (860)896-3222, ext 8033.

I-84 E between 70-71 was closed for about five hours as police investigated.
