Car Stop Leads to Police Chase, Manhunt in Westport

A young woman has been arrested and three others will soon face charges after a car stop turned into a police chase in Westport on Monday and one suspect was caught with drugs.

Officers stopped a car on Post Road West in Westport around 5:45 p.m. Monday. According to police, 21-year-old Taylah Lucido, of Shelton, got out of the car and was found in possession of drugs.

While police were searching Lucido, the car took off with two other passengers in tow. One officer stayed with Lucido and the other chased the fleeing car onto Seaview Avenue, at which point the driver and passengers got out and ran, police said.

Westport and Norwalk police were called out and brought a K-9 to search the area, police said. One suspect was found in the water at a nearby marina and a second was found hiding under a motorcycle tar on Betts Place. The third is still on the run.

Lucido was charged with intent to sell marijuana and possession of a hallucinogenic.

Police said the two other suspects to be apprehended were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and will be charged upon their release.
