State police have arrested the clerk of a Mansfield gas station and say he made up an armed robbery.

State troopers responded to Amir Mobil Gas Station on Route 32 just after 10:15 p.m. on June 12 and were told that someone made off with cash.

In the investigation that followed, detectives discovered several discrepancies in the clerk’s
account of the armed robbery and determined it was a false report, police said.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the store clerk and his accomplice.

On July 27, police found the store clerk, Javier Flores, 27, at his Mansfield home and took him into custody.
Flores was charged with third-degree larceny, interfering, conspiracy to commit larceny, providing a false statement and falsely reporting an incident.
