Man Shot 3 Times With Stun Gun Dies

The man was not dressed and might have taken drugs, according to reports.

A man who Bridgeport police said resisted medical emergency workers and acted erratically has died after police used a stun gun on him at least three times.

The man, whose name has not been released, was not wearing clothes and was possibly under the influence of drugs, the Connecticut Post reports.

Police said the man tried to assault one of the medical technicians as they were trying to control him on Wilkins Avenue on Sunday morning and place him into an ambulance.

The man, described as in his 50s, went into cardiac arrest at the scene on Sunday and died soon after, police said.

Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. said the two officers acted properly and in accordance with policies regarding the use of what he called electronic control devices.

"They performed admirably and in a highly professional manner to gain control of a difficult situation." Gaudett said in a statement.

The State Police Major Crime Squad will investigate.
