Crews Extinguish Fire at Stratford Linen Service Business

A fire broke out at a linen service company in Stratford late Friday night.

Stratford firefighters responded to General Linen Service at 895 Woodend Road just after 10 p.m. Friday to investigate a reported fire alarm activating.

Firefighters observed smoke when they arrived and discovered a fire engulfing large bins of linens that were recently cleaned, according to Stratford Deputy Chief Brian Lampart, who is also Stratford's fire marshal.

Crews put out the blaze and kept it contained to the building before it could spread to the structure, he said.

No one was injured.

This is not the first fire at General Linen Service. There have been multiple fires at the business, including one in 2000 that destroyed the building, Lampart said.

The Stratford fire marshal's office is investigating.
