A 32-year-old Hartford man who was shot several times has died and police have released his name.
Police responded to 371 New Park Avenue in Hartford on Thursday to investigate a report of a serious assault with a firearm and found a man on the ground.
Police identified the victim as Daniel Sampel, 32, of Hartford.
Sampel had been shot several times and EMS and transported him to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:02 p.m.
The major crimes unit responded and took over the investigation.
