Hartford Police Investigate Parking Lot Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that happened in the area of Garden and Barbour streets in Hartford early Saturday morning before another shooting in the capital city.

Officers responded at 2:42 a.m. to the area of 892 Garden Street after receiving reports of shots fired. Police didn't find anything.

But after 3 a.m., St. Francis Hospital officials called police to say they treated a man who suffered a gunshot wound to his left pinky toe. A bullet also grazed the man's thigh.

The 29-year-old gunshot victim told police he was walking through the 383 Barbour Street parking lot, which is behind the original address police responded to earlier on Saturday morning. A group of men told him to leave before one pulled a gun out and shot him, he told police.

His identity hasn't been released.

The shooting scene has been cleared.

Just before 4 a.m. police responded to another shooting at 156 Homestead Avenue that injured at least one person.

Both shootings happened outside, but police don't believe they're  connected.
