The Derby Police Department is investigating a reported home invasion that sent one man to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Derby Police responded to Elizabeth Street around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night and found a 52 year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was shot several times by multiple perpetrators who entered his residence, according to officials.

The victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Russell Altimari, who owns Little Italy, a store below the victim’s family’s residence, said the family has been living upstairs without incident for several years.

However, he said he has seen come trouble in the neighborhood before.

Police are asking anyone with any information to call them at 203-735-7811.
