Helping Naomi

It didn’t take long for NBC Connecticut viewers to make us proud. Your generosity is making a difference in the life of a terminally ill Shelton girl.

"A day after the story aired we started getting phone calls and we even got a donation for $1000.00"

We first introduced you to Naomi at the beginning of April. The 6-year-old Shelton girl has Neimann Pick Disease. It’s a rare and terminal illness that attacks the body’s organs.

Earlier this month, Shelton police arrested Stephanie Hartmeyer for taking advantage of Naomi, by holding fundraisers in her honor and then pocking the money. It was a story that upset 8-year-old Sophie Kramka.

"It wasn’t right what happened. So I’m holding a tag sale to raise money for her charity," said Kramka.

And the giving doesn’t stop there.

Alan Phillips owns ASF Sports in Shelton and has agreed to sell the Neimann Pick Disease Foundation’s "Persevere" gear at his store. He’s got everything from t-shirts to water bottles to bracelets.

"100% of the proceeds will go to charity and this time I guarantee you that will be the case," said Phillips.

Geigers Nursery in Fairfield is also donating 50 plants on Mother’s Day for the first 50 people who buy "Persevere" gear.

The Tyrrell family says the support is overwhelming and makes it that much easier to persevere each day.
