Mystic Seaport will be open year-round come 2016.
That includes winter.
The seaport will be open all 12 months in 2016. For the past several years, Mystic Seaport would close for the first six weeks of the year, according to Dan McFadden, director of communications at Mystic Seaport.
Year-round operation is the future plan for the seaport.
A large construction project is already underway at Mystic Seaport to increase its indoor offerings, McFadden said.
The $11.5 million Thompson Exhibit Building is scheduled to open in 2016, just one of the ways the seaport hopes to maintain year-round operation.
