New Britain Stabbing Victim Critical, Suspect Arrested

Police have made an arrest in a serious stabbing in New Britain on Saturday.

Officers were called to Dwight Street just after 3:30 p.m. and found a 22-year-old suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

Police determined the stabbing stemmed from an argument that escalated to violence.

Officers found the suspect, 28-year-old Rashad William Candelaria, of New Britain, at the scene and arrested him.

Candelaria is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, and breach of peace. He is being held on $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
