Restaurant Raises Funds for Family of Boy Killed in Fire

Community members are coming together to help the Townsend family in New Britain after a devastating fire that killed an 11-year-old boy.

Cade Townsend IV’s father, Cade Townsend III, is a cook at J. Timothy's Taverne in Plainville and the restaurant is taking up a collection behind the bar and has also started an online donation drive for the family.

“It is with heavy hearts that we post this, J. Timothy’s Taverne’s Facebook page says. “The tragic fire in New Britain yesterday has devastated the family of one of our staff members. Cade Townsend III is a chef here; his young son Cade Townsend IV perished in the fire. Many people have contacted us wishing to support the family at this difficult time - their residence and all of their belongings were also lost in the fire - so we've established a Go Fund Me page. The donations will go directly to the Townsend family. We'll have more information soon about how to donate clothing and non-perishable food items. Prayers and love to the Townsend family, God bless.”

The Cade Townsend Family Assistance GoFundMe page has raised almost $17,000.

Cade Townsend IV was a fifth-grade student at Chamberlain Elementary School.
