Shelton Police Dog Retires

Jager, a police dog that has been working with the Shelton Police Department since 2008, has retired.

K-9 Jager was paired up with Officer Christopher Nugent and helped several local, state, and federal agencies during his career. He was also a familiar face at schools and community functions and programs, police said.

Jager assisted in approximately 75 successful tracks and apprehended as many as 15 suspects.

The Shelton Police Department is planning on getting another K-9 soon, but the dog will not be working with Nugent, who was promoted to detective.

The new police dog will have a new handler.

If you would like to donate to the police K-9 program, send a check to the Shelton Police Department, at 85 Wheeler St. in Shelton.

Checks should be made out to “City of Shelton Special K-9 account.”
