Shoreline Drying Out After Storms

Flood waters have subsided, but several residents along the Connecticut shoreline are still drying up after major high tides on Wednesday, as well as rainfall.

“I think it took everybody by surprise. Nobody really expected it to be any big deal,” Haley Veller, of East Haven, said.

Dave Levenduski, also of East Haven, said the water came in quickly and flooded the area in around half an hour.

“People were scrambling to move their cars,” he said.

Whether you were flooded or saw little impact depends on where you live and Becka Mickelson, of New Haven, said she was not affected.

“I didn’t hear anything last night. I didn’t notice anything, felt nothing,” she said.

Residents of East Haven, however, said what they went through on Wednesday.

“I don’t think we’d give it up. We love living out here by the beach and by the water, so I think you take the good with the bad,” Veller said.

Levenduski said there’s nothing better than a nice day on the shoreline, but it’s a different story when storms come in.

“But when it’s bad, it’s really bad. You have to deal with it. It is what it is,” he said.
