Suspect Arrested in December Hartford Murder

Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting in a parking lot outside 109 Adelaide Street in Hartford on Dec. 20 and said he is a convicted felon.

Angel Vasquez, 23, had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they identified Daniel Morales, 30, of East Hartford and Hartford, as a suspect through DNA.

Morales, a convicted felon, was out on parole, police said, and authorities found him with help from parole officers.

When police interviewed Morales on April 24, he confessed to shooting and killing Vasquez, according to a news release from Hartford Police.

Morales was taken into custody and is in prison.

On Tuesday, police obtained a warrant charging Morales, charging him with murder, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm and tampering with evidence.

Bond was set at $1 million.
