Two people charged in connection with a hit-and-run Saturday on Foxon Road in East Haven that killed a 59-year-old woman are due in court today.
Police said 33-year-old Edward Santomassimo was driving the Chevrolet Silverado that struck and killed 59-year-old Lynn Travisano.
Travisano was believed to be walking back from the market at the Citgo gas station near her home after playing some scratch-off tickets when she was hit around 8:39 p.m. Saturday.
The driver, who police have since identified as Santomassimo, drove right into her and kept driving, according to police.
First responders found Travisano in the roadway next to the walker she was using while waiting to undergo knee surgery, Pringles and ice cream beside her. She later died from her injuries at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Police said Santomassimo returned to the scene and was caught on dash-cam video and the vehicle was later found in New Haven.
Santomassimo, who was taken into custody at a family member's house, has been charged with evading responsibility, resulting in death, and interfering with a police officer.

His passenger, 33-year-old Jeanna Suraci, has been charged with interfering with a police officer and hindering prosecution.
Travisano's sister, Denise Pettinicchi, said she is relieved police have identified suspects, but nothing can bring her sister back.
"It’s so horrible. I just pray to God he gives us all the strength and I just pray that no one has to go through this,” she said.
Travisano leaves behind two grown children and two grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for next week.
Santomassimo's bond was set at $750,000.
Suraci's bond was set at $75,000.
Both are due in court today.
