Suspicious Person Arrested at Bristol Walmart

A 21-year-old Bridgeport man is facing charges after he hung around a Walmart in Bristol all day and told a store employee that he had a gun, according to police.

Police said Anthony Perez loitered on the store property at 1400 Farmington Avenue for most of the day Tuesday. At one point, he approached an employee outside the store and asked if the Walmart had an alarm system and a metal detector. Store management told police Perez claimed to have a gun.

Officers arrived around 3:30 p.m. and found Perez in the Walmart food court. They searched him and discovered he had a BB gun in his waistband. When officers said they were planning to arrest Perez, he became combative, according to police.

Perez was arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace, resisting arrest and felony possession of a firearm.

He’s being held on a $50,000 surety bond and is due in court Nov. 6.
