Teen Charged in Murder of 74-Year-Old Man

A Hartford teen is being held on $1 million bond in connection with the shooting death of a 74-year-old man outside a market in Hartford, police said.

Charles Wilson, 18, was arrested around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Police said Wilson was trespassing in an area known as a hot spot for crime and ran when police saw him. They took him into custody on Farmington Avenue after a brief chase and confessed to pulling the trigger outside the Hot Corner Market on Albany Avenue in the North End of Hartford on May 30, police said.

Andrew Igida was killed in the shooting. Police do not believe the was the target of the shooting.

Charges against Wilson include murder, robbery, assault, carrying a pistol without a permit and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Bond was set at $2,500 for trespassing and resisting arrest. He is due in court on June 21.
