Highways in New Haven County look more like rivers than roadways and a house in Hebron was on fire as storms pummel the area.

Lightning struck the side of a Hope Valley Road house Tuesday morning, blew out a basement window and traveled to the woods nearby, according to the Hebron Fire Department and people at the scene.

Flooding closed exit 1 on the Route 34 Connector into New Haven. At the same time, exits 46 and 45 were closed on Interstate 95 southbound. These are exits near Ikea and Long Wharf.

Expect residual delays in the area, according to the DOT.
