Jonathan Holmes hit a 3-pointer from the left baseline with 2 seconds left and No. 7 Texas beat No. 24 UConn 55-54 Sunday.

Holmes had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Longhorns (6-0). Demarcus Holland and Javan Felix each added 10 points.

Ryan Boatright had 24 points and seven rebounds for UConn (3-2), which lost its second consecutive game. Freshman Daniel Hamilton added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Texas led much of the way, but trailed by six after the Huskies went on an 11-1 second-half run.

The Longhorns chipped away over the final six minutes and called a timeout with 4.4 seconds left trailing 54-52 after Boatright missed the back end of a 1-and-1 at the free-throw line.

Connor Lammert found Holmes on the inbound pass as he came off a screen by Holland, and he made the game-winning shot.
