10 Local Bands Playing Elm City PopFest

A handful of New Haven scenesters including top indie promoter Manic Productions, blogger New Haven Music and micro-label February Records have joined forces to throw the third annual Elm City PopFest on September 14-17. The four-day festival will be held nightly and rotate between three popular New Haven venues: BAR, Popeye's Garage and Cafe Nine. Can't wait until September? They'll kick things off with a special warm-up show Saturday night at Hartford's Charter Oak Cultural Center featuring Watertown's breakout indie rockers The Guru.

Organizers have plenty of local acts on the bill, but have also included touring outfits like Philly's Reading Rainbow, Boston-based pschedellic rockers 28 Degrees Taurus and Roanoake's Eternal Summers. With apologies to the headliners, scroll through our gallery to reveal ten native Connecticut bands that should really reasonate with locals.

Visit their event page for a full rundown on all the upstart fest's performers.
