Police have canceled a Silver Alert for 84-year-old Roy Blackfield, who was reported missing from Norwalk on Thursday and was found driving in New York state, according to his daughter.
Blackfield's daughter, Allison McKinnon, said he and his wife are visiting from Florida and have been staying at the Marriott Courtyard in Norwalk.
According to McKinnon, Blackfield has dementia and drove off in the rental car around 3:30 p.m. Thursday without telling his wife.
McKinnon said he left his cellphone behind and asked a hotel employee for directions to the nearest Bank of America.
Blackfield is originally from Vero Beach, Florida. He was found driving near Poughkeepsie almost 13 hours after he was reported missing, according to McKinnon.
McKinnon said he is safe but doesn't remember any of the drive.
