Fire Damages Bloomfield Restaurant

A Bloomfield restaurant will be closed for several weeks after it was severely damaged by a fire on Sunday morning.

The fire started on the outside of Mavi restaurant on Jerome Avenue just before 1 a.m. and quickly spread throughout the building because of wind, Roger Nelson, Bloomfield Fire Marshalm said.

Nelson credits the restaurant's sprinkler system with confining the fire to just one portion of the restaurant.

None of the restaurant's equipment was damaged and no one was hurt in the fire.

Nelson said that due to the significant damage cause by the fire, it will take at least several weeks before Nelson expects the restaurant to reopen.

It is unknown how much it was cost to repair the damage caused by the fire.

The cause is still under investigation.
