Hundreds of Birds Seized in Cockfighting Investigation

Animal cruelty charges possible

Hundreds of birds are being seized by State Police in an apparent cockfighting ring investigation.

Troopers who were on an unrelated call in Harwinton, became suspicious of activity a private farm on Litchfield Road (Rt. 118), according to State Police.

A "significant number" of birds and roosters were found and police are considering the possibility that this was connected to a cockfighting ring.

The investigation will continue through Friday afternoon.
