Commuting Could Get Tougher on Your Wallet

Connecticut commuters could lose some rail service and pay more for it

Commuting to New York might become a little more difficult and cost you more at the same time. 

The commuter advocacy group Connecticut Rail Commuter Council will hold a meeting this Wednesday, where members will discuss planned service cuts and fare increases on Metro North and Shoreline East rail lines.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is facing a $1.2 billion budget gap.

State transportation officials said they are considering eliminating off-peak trains to save money while minimizing disruption for riders.
