Seventeen-month-old Montez Stanley was killed earlier this month when a hit-and-run driver in a Mercedes ran a stop sign, hit the Stanleys’ SUV and flipped it over, police said.
New Haven police thought they had the Mercedes that matches the description from witnesses.
New Haven cops seized the car Sunday after Waterbury cops saw it and called New Haven police, who towed it to the police garage, the New Haven Independent reports.
A Waterbury man owns the car but he has not been labeled a suspect, the Independent reports.
Turns out, the car they seized was not involved in the hit and run. So cops are again looking for a 1998-2003 Mercedes Benz CLK 320 with front-end damage.
