Feds Help Connecticut Fix and Flip Foreclosures

Eleven local communities will get up to $350,000 to fix up foreclosed upon homes.

Joan McDonald, the Commissioner of the State Department of Economic and Community Development, appeared before three legislative committees on Wednesday to explain how $3.6 million in federal funding would be used to rehab and resell foreclosure properties. All of the money would have to be spent by Sept. 30, 2012.

Some lawmakers are concerned that the amount of money might not be enough to do an adequate job of rehabbing the homes.

Connecticut's larger cities will see more than $7 million in federal funding for similar projects. Hartford gets $1 million of that.
