Poor Bunnies

A complaint led police to the rabbit-filled home

Bullet holes and a rank smell brought cops to a Trumbull house full of bunnies and the droppings they leave behind last week.

On July 18, authorities went to Edward and Stacey Tighe's rented home on Edison Road after getting a complaint from neighbors. Inside, they found a rotting rabbit carcass, a dozen rabbits in cages without any food or water and windows that appeared to be shot out with BB guns, the Connecticut Post reports.

Animal control officials took 17 rabbits from the house. A Superior Court judge granted the town temporary custody of the bunnies on Monday and they are at the town's animal shelter.

Police say they're preparing charges against the Tighes, who did not immediately return a phone message to the Associated Press Tuesday.
