What You're Doing This Weekend – March 6-8

Friday

Where The Party's At- Head over to Shrine Asian Kitchen, Lounge, & Nightclub to meet a boxer-turned-model.  McKey Sullivan (you know, the one from America's Next Top Model) will co-host Friday Night Lights with contestant Sheena Satana.  The leggy ladies will get the crowd fired up as the DJ turns up the beat.

Friday Night Fight- It's a must-see match-up of two of boxing's top welterweights.  Head over to Mohegan Sun to see Delvin Rodriguez take on Shamone Alvarez.  Tickets range from $30 - $70.

The Who- There's a powerful show at The Hartt School Theatre Division of the University of Hartford this weekend.  It's called The Who's Tommy - but a warning, it's not for kids.  It's based on the original rock opera by The Who.  It's about a young boy who becomes deaf, dumb, and blind after witnessing the murder of his mother's lover by his own father.

Free Show- Trinity College in Hartford is hosting a free show.  Distinguished French organist and composer Jean-Baptiste Robin will be performing at 7:30 p.m.  The event is free and open to everyone.

Saturday

DVD Magazine Launch- Head over the The Warehouse Saturday night for a fun benefit.  It's all in celebration of the launch of a DVD Magazine called "He Say.  She Say."  The event features live local acts, DJ's, an art exhibit, a fashion show, food, poetry, and wine.  The money raised goes to UConn Health Center for breast cancer research.

Wine and Beer Tasting- Head over to Central Station Auction House in Windsor for a Wine and Beer tasting.  It's $30 to get in the door and that includes the tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and live music.

Women's Big East Championship- The 2009 Big East Women's Basketball Championship is going on at the XL Center this weekend.  The teams are battling for the conference tournament title, and the winner gets an automatic bid to the 64 team NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

Sunday

Animals-  Here's a great show you won't want to miss - Nickelback.  They'll be performing with Seether and Saving Abel at Mohegan Sun Sunday night.  The last time we saw Nickelback was about a year ago, and they put on one heck of a show.  Energy filled, loud, and pumped with pyros.

Take 2- Tuscany Grill in Middletown is trying again for the 8th Annual Ice Carving and Chowder Competition.  It was snowed out last week, so this week they'll bring in the ice, the chowda', and the tasty Hooker beers.

The Blues- Grammy Award winner James "Superharp" Cotton is performing at Infinity Music Hall & Bistro in Norfolk.  The guy formed his James Cotton Blues Band back in '66 and has shared the stage with the likes of B.B. King, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Winter, the Allman Brothers, Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Sam and Dave, and The Grateful Dead.  That's one heck of a resume.  You can catch the living legend of the blues for a little as $25.
