6/26-6/28: Country Music, Comedy Cruise and CT Irish Festival

Jazzing, cruising and dancing it up this weekend

The forecast is lookin’ good (finally!) so get outside and start your Fourth of July holiday attitude a weekend early!

Calling all country music fans! Head on over to the Comcast Theatre at 8:00 p.m. and prepare to be dazzled by superstar country rock band, Rascal Flatts. Their “Unstoppable” tour will have CT country fans jumping out of those cowboy boots! Darius "Don't Call Me Hootie" Rucker, will make a special guest appearance. It’s sure to be a “sexy summer night” as the boys sing in their hot new single “Summer Nights.”

Do a jig on Saturday! The Connecticut Irish Festival is coming to New Haven.  You won’t be bored with activities like Gaelic football and hurling games, Irish Dance Championship, crafts and food. Admission is $10 for adults and children younger than 16 are free. Hours are 12:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

All Aboard! The Kehinde Ramsey Comedy Cruise is a perfect way to end your Saturday night. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, ‘cruise for a cure’ aboard the Lady Katharine cruise ship. Entertainment includes comedian Marshall Brandon and the sounds Of DJ "Cutty.” The ship departs at 6:30 from the Charter Oak Landing in Hartford. So eat, drink, laugh and dance your way down the Connecticut River under the (hopefully cloudless) sky. For more information call 860-687-0849.

Still bored? Jazz up your weekend with the Hot Steamed Jazz Festival at the Essex Steam Train. For more than 15 years musicians, jazz critics, and aficionados have recognized the festival as one that offers the highest quality classic jazz music. All of the proceeds go to Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a camp for children who are terminally ill. Bring a little New Orleans’s spice to your weekend, have fun and help charity!

Not a fan of jazz, but still want to contribute to the camp? Hit the green! The primary beneficiary of the Travelers Golf Tournament in Cromwell this weekend will donate their proceeds to the organization.

So much to do! So little time! If only the weekend was longer…
