Whiffenpoofs to the White House

Yale's a capella group will entertain the First Family.

Yalie’s are no strangers to the White House, but on Tuesday, they go to entertain.

Yale’s well-known a capella group, the Whiffenpoofs, will sing for the First Family and their guests tomorrow.

Whiffenpoof business manager, Alexander Oki, told Office of Public Affairs & Communications the group received their invitation from the White House in late October.

This group of “Whiffs” is not the first to perform before world leaders in their 102-year history and they will likely not be the last.

Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush have also hosted the group.

In 2002, fictional President Josiah Bartlet (“West Wing”) enjoyed the songsters’ holiday medley in the faux White House on the Hollywood set of “West Wing.”
