A Waterbury man died after being hit while walking to his car in Meriden on Saturday night.
Jason Sola, 19, of Meriden, is accused of hitting Jose Ormezzano, 63, who had just finished his shift at Hunter’s Ambulance Service and was walking to his car on West Main Street around 9 p.m.when he was hit.
Police said Ormezzano was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The Hunter’s Ambulance Service released a statement expressing their condolences to Ormezzano’s family. They also commended the EMTs and Paramedics for their immediate response and quick interventions in caring for one of their own.
The Meriden Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
