California Fugitive Arrested in Norwich

Nicholas Gardner, 25, was wanted in California for a parole violation.

Norwich police arrested a fugitive on Tuesday who was wanted in the state of California for a parole violation.

The Norwich Police Department said they had received information that Nicholas Gardner, 25, a man with an active felony arrest warrant out of California, was staying at 153 Summit St. in apartment B.

An officer saw Gardner entering the residence at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday and police had to force their way in, police said.

Officers found Gardner hiding in the basement and arrested him. He will appear in Norwich Superior Court on Wednesday.

Gardner was charged with fugitive from justice and interfering with an officer. Bond was set at $100,000.
