30 People Displaced After Torrington Apartment Fire

Thirty people are displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Torrington on Friday night.

Firefighters were called to the Woodland Hills Apartments on Highland Avenue around 9:20 p.m. after getting a report of a fire.

When they arrived, crews said a rear porch was fully involved in flames in the 8 unit complex and was extending into the occupied part of the building.

All occupants inside of the complex were able to evacuate, firefighters said.

Crews from Drakeville, Torringford, Harwinton Westside, Litchfield and Winsted assisted Torrington firefighters to extinguish the flames.

The fire was knocked down and the damage was largely contained to two to three units, fire officials said.

A total of 30 people are displaced and the Red Cross is working to assist those that require emergency housing, firefighters added.

The Fire Marshal's Office is working with the State Fire Marshal's Office to investigate the origin and cause.

No injuries were reported.
